He has been involved in a range of applications within the refrigeration discipline, ranging from industrial refrigeration for the chemical industry, to environmental simulation for research, and commercial and industrial refrigeration for various food industry applications as well as automotive air conditioning.

Michael has significant international experience, with projects conducted in UK, Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden, Spain, Korea, China, Turkey and further customer contacts and visits in Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. In July 2000 he established Minus 40 Refrigeration Consultants and Design Engineers with the aim of specialising in the provision of natural refrigerant solutions to industry and conducting a wide range of work, including expert opinion, consulting and system design.

The Green Cooling Council was founded by Michael in 2002 in recognition of the need to ensure that the necessary transition to natural refrigerants was driven by a sound technical approach led by recognised industry professionals and engaging the support of equipment suppliers. Since then Michael has been impressed with the increased recognition of the need to address environmental issues within the industry, and the speed with which some sectors are moving to embrace the use of natural refrigerants. He is convinced the industry is undergoing a period of rapid and far reaching change and strongly encourages Australian business to set an example to the world in leading the development of natural refrigerant systems.
