Charter

The goal of the Green Cooling Council is to accelerate the transition from the use of environmentally damaging synthetic refrigerants to environmentally benign natural refrigerants, including primary, secondary and consumable refrigerants.

The objective of this transition is to achieve a reduction in the environmental impact by our industry, in particular as a consequence of the release of potent greenhouse gases such as CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs commonly used in our industry.

The Green Cooling Council is guided by the following principles:

- The Green Cooling Council will encourage membership from all individuals, organizations and companies that have an interest in furthering the application of natural refrigerants.

- The Green Cooling Council will focus on facilitating the dissemination of information on the application of natural refrigerants amongst its members through a range of programs and activities,

- The Green Cooling Council will engage in dialogue and discussion with the wider industry and government to further the acceptance of natural refrigerants and improve the regulatory framework in relation to the application of natural refrigerants.

- The Green Cooling Council will encourage and facilitate a transition to benign alternatives in a manner that will ensure that the transition is accomplished in a safe manner, through better training of technicians and design engineers, whilst at all times observing strict compliance with applicable standards, codes, guidelines and regulations.

- The Green Cooling Council will seek close cooperation with other industry bodies and non-governmental organizations where such cooperation can further the aims of the Green Cooling Council.

- The Green Cooling Council will seek close cooperation with the various registered training organizations, in order to achieve wider training in natural refrigerant technologies.

- The Green Cooling Council will advise state and federal government on the implementation of requisite reforms to state and federal legislation to facilitate the implementation of alternative technologies in preference to environmentally damaging technologies, where these alternative technologies could be applied safely and to the benefit of society and the environment.
